Project Description

Strata were appointed to source a solution for a new hot water calorifier at a commercial premises – St Botolph House, in Aldgate. The calorifier was required to serve 2 pantries, a full-sized kitchen and a coffee shop. The system requirement was also necessary to reduce the Legionella risk posed by excessive water storage.

After liaising with both the client and a Mechanical Consultant, it was agreed that we should move from 1,000 litres of stored hot water to 500 litres.

All works were undertaken out of hours, to minimise any disruption to office workers, and all facilities were fully operational by 6am on Monday morning.

As well as reducing the risk of Legionella presence, the water now recovers quicker than the previous system allowed, which has left the client very satisfied.

Project works included:
• Sourcing appropriate new water calorifier system
• Installation of 1 x high recovery unit
• Adapt the existing 3 phase electrical supplies, to support 4 x high recovery immersion heaters
• Full clean and chlorination of the new and existing pipework
