Successful Strata Workshop with Riverside SEN Students

Strata actively aim to support the local communities within which we work and last month, as part of our community engagement initiative, we ran an educational workshop at Kings Hill in Kent. Joining us, were 7 students from The Riverside School in Bromley, an educational facility providing specialist support to students with complex needs.

The session began with decorative flower planting and our helpful operatives were on hand to assist the students and answer any of their queries. Despite ranging in age and ability, all students were eagerly involved in this planting project.

Previously, the Kings Hill site was an operating airfield and within the grounds there is a trail of pavement brass plaques given the name, ‘A Place of Landings’, which represent all the planes which departed from the site. Using coloured crayons and chalks, the students followed the trail and successfully developed brass rubbings. The weather remained pleasant throughout the day and so the session concluded with a picnic in the park.

The workshop was a success and the students enjoyed participating in the various tasks, whilst learning about the work Strata carry out at the Kings Hill site. We look forward to engaging in additional community support in the future.
