Project Description

Due to relocation to another site within Selfridges, this Valentino concession was being dismantled and we were instructed to clear the area and level the floor, ready for the new client to take occupancy.

We completed the works over 5 nights, carrying out;

  • The stripping out and disposal of all displays
  • Removal of the existing terrazzo tiled floor
  • Levelling of the concrete sub-floor in preparation for the incoming retailer

Due to the nature of the premises being a very busy and operational department store, which was adjoined to the even busier Manchester Arndale Centre shopping facility – our permit application process and administrative tasks had to be very carefully managed.

The logistics also provided challenging circumstances for our waste removal routes, as the location of the concession meant that we had to assemble a very large team to transport waste into the loading bay, with the requirement for a large on-site roll-on skip to dispose into. This required the application for additional permits, extensive floor protection to be applied to cover the route down to the loading bay from the shop floor, as well as secure fencing to segregate the skip for the duration of the works.

Our collaboration with other teams, and focused site supervision was key in the safe and successful coordination of these works, ensuring that we minimised disruption to staff and customers, whilst also keeping areas aesthetically unaffected – applying a removing extensive protection measures at the start and end of each working shift.
